does wearing corsets shrink your waist
Modern-day burlesque star Dita Von Teese says that yes, corsets will truly deliver a tinier waist, but the wearer has to be dedicated in the effort. She should know; Ms. Von Teese began waist training at age 18 and once boasted about having an enviable 17-inch waistline. Her advice is not to mess with waist trainers that feature an elastic band but to go to professionals who can hook you up with a tie-up corset type of trainer. In fact, the raven-haired dancer told Allure Magazine that reality TV personalities all rave about wearing a stretchy waist trainer to melt away fat and create a more hourglass silhouette, but those garments are more for a fast fix. Von Teese did not mention celebrities by name like Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian who have often shown off their waist trainer selfies on social media. She did say, however, that corset-wearing can help modify the waist, but it takes commitment and a regimen. The practice will not melt fat; that requires a sound exercise and diet program in addition to the corset routine. She added that these celebrities make it look like a smaller waist can be achieved within a few weeks, but when done the right way for fabulous results, wearing a corset takes patience. It works slowly but surely. Some plastic surgeons agree with Von Teese's thinking that diet and working out is another key part of the program to maintaining a sleek, healthy figure and tiny waist. Dr. Andrew Miller, a plastic surgeon of Associates in Plastic Surgery in New York and New Jersey, once told CNN that also wearing a corset and eating and exercising properly can have an effective psychological effect on trying to achieve that much-coveted hourglass figure. Miller says that one's stomach is not allowed to expand in a corset, so one may eat less. Dr. Miller claims that after a couple of weeks on a "corset diet," the plan could deliver some noticeable weight loss. For Dita Von Teese and other women who have worn the tie-up corset model, it's not a simple garment to wear. In other words, you know you have it on, and you can feel a difference, but you get used to the garment. The right corset can create incredible posture and a better stance and back, the burlesque icon revealed. When wearing a corset, Von Teese says that you begin to stand differently, and it's a wonderful way to develop that hourglass shape because the method really works. She says she does not purchase corsets off the rack and has one custom made to fit her unique proportions. Waist training has been around for several centuries, and its popularity continues to soar. Celebrities today still swear by the beauty routine that they believe helps to shrink their waist. Some of them have included Jessica Alba, Madonna, Lily James, Kim Zolciak and Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi.
