How Long to Leave Waist Trainer On

Whether you are obsessed with having an hourglass shape like Kim Kardashian or you want to get back in shape after giving birth like Jessica Alba or if you just want to look flawless in your clothes like Nicki Minaj and Amber Rose, waist training may be for you.

Using a steel boned corset to modify your waist, it acts as an internal lap band that can also help keep you from eating large quantities of food all at once. A waist trainer or a waist cincher comes in different shapes and sizes and is made for men and women. They all have their individual claims to fame, such as lose pounds; lose inches; best for exercise and best for comfort. But first and foremost is how it looks under your clothes and your personal preference.

In addition to the desired hourglass figure, some use waist trainers to improve their posture; improve their confidence or make a fashion statement. Some use it to help with postpartum waist strengthening and tightening and aid in weight loss or to support the bust line. It is also know to keep you warmer on cool days and can help with pain relief and back support after injuries.

To obtain the desired look you want, start slowly and give yourself time to reach your goals. It is recommended that once you start, gradually increase the time over several days. Begin wearing the waist trainer for two or three hours on the first day then increase an hour each day until you reach 10 hours a day and the waist trainer is comfortable. If it is uncomfortable it may be too tight or the wrong size. There are "sizing teams" that can help with proper fit and style for your body type and the goals that you have set for yourself. Once you can comfortably wear the waist trainer for 10 hours a day, wear it for eight weeks straight in order to see results. Permanent results will not be achieved without exercise and proper diet incorporated with wearing the waist trainer. Some have seen noticeable results after a few weeks, while other go years with consistently wearing the trainer. They make wearing a corset or waist trainer a part of their lifestyle.

The 2011 Guinness Book of World Records holder, Cathie Jung is known for having the smallest waist. It is said that her waist is the size of a regular jar of mayonnaise. She has worn a corset for 24 hours a day for many years and owns over 100 of them.
